Chris Tomlin: Faithful
I
know it's been a little slow on the blog front... but if you have had a peek behind the curtains of September and October in my life these past few months, you will have been well sure that busyness has ravaged through my entire schedule from top to bottom! So here I am, stealing some time from the pile of accounting work I am doing with my numbers lady, and sneaking a small blog post, in (personally) my favourite section of the blog. Why my favourite when it's not even the main page? Well... thats it... it's not the main page, and I get to be me here, a little more open, and talk about something I love just as much as taking photos :) And the fun part is, most people don't check here. I know, I'm weird :P
Anyway, this past week has been one of trial, and I've spent many a moment sitting before God asking him for help in areas where I fall short. And when I tempted to doubt my beautiful and amazing Lord, he proved me wrong and faithfully reached out His hand and responded to my cry for help by sending me friends, words of wisdom that just really needed to be heard, and this one amazing song. Thank you God for your solace and restoration, for reminding me you are truly truly faithful to those that love you, and that you promise to continue to be true to your word, to uphold us in times of trial, and that you are always sharpening us to be more and more like Christ. I love you more than words can say.
To those reading, I hope you enjoy this gorgeous gorgeous song, and I hope it sprinkles a little spoonful of encouragement into your day. The words were such a joy to soak in, and the melody is just beautiful - I couldn't help but sing it all night :)

Piano in the Fields Engagement: Sam and Janice
T
here are great shoots. Then there are shoots that we photographers walk away from, unexplainably FULFILLED deep down. These are the kind of shoots that leave permanent footprints on your heart, and remain engraved in the memory vault forever. And I knew....I knew at the very instance of the last frame of this session, that it would be one of THOSE sessions. That it would be one in the books for the rest of my days. Keys. Field. Wildflowers. Sunset. Couple in love. THAT was a perfect afternoon.
I have to admit, the idea scared me, but it is always amazing to meet couples who dare to dream big, and speak the same visual language as myself... you see, I have long envisaged shooting a single lone piano in a field. But you can imagine the logistics involved in such a crazy image... so the thought has always been shelved in the back of my mind, just collecting dust for the better part of 2 years. Until we meet Sam and Janice. A couple who presented TO me the idea of shooting with a vintage piano, anywhere I thought looked best - AND they were willing to move it for the shoot. How could you turn down pure serendipity knocking on your door like that? And with the amount of heavily styled shoots these days, it was a breath of fresh air to have just ONE great idea, and only work around that. Less is more in a sense :) Thank you Sam and Janice for trusting me with this and letting us pick wildflowers from the field for your shoot!! Your session was the perfect blend of style, simplicity, and fun - just the way I love it :)
If anyone of you from Sydney are reading this post, you will know that my home city has been horribly PMS-ish with her weather of late, which has been so awfully depressing for work... and just like any other spring day this month, the skies threatened to unleash all it had above, with the winds howling around us, but God graced this photography music loving pair with just enough light to sprinkle across their afternoon adventure in the fields to make some pretty pretty pictures :)
I hope you love these images as much as I do :) And thank you both for being willing to move the piano!! :D

Dear Lord, I cannot say just how much I love long windswept hair :)

I love these last two captures... It was snapped by my sister who has been with me on a few shoots of late :D

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
