Album Cover Shoot: Amy Yeoh
So, I take pictures, and I love music. I think most of you already know that.
What happens when I get to combine the two together? You get one happy Jenny :D I think photographing musicians has become somewhat of a pet love for myself...I do love photographing these special kind of individuals... it puts two of my loves together and I really do have the best time producing art that I know will somehow be contributed to their industry.
Recently, I had the privilege to shoot the photos for Amy Yeoh's new upcoming album! :D Amy, a really talented singer who also studied at Berklee College of Music (you know, the school that has turned out the likes of famous people like John Mayer, Diana Krall, Paula Cole, Melissa Ethridge just to name a few), is an up and coming rising star from Malaysia. If you haven't heard her sing, or checked out her music, you should head on over to her website and take a listen NOW :) Her voice is what I would describe as pretty, sweet and crystal clear, and has the versatility that can pull off songs from jazz to pop! :D
The lead single off her new album "Say Goodbye" has officially launched!! And you can grab it off iTunes and Cdbaby so do head on over and check it out.

Anyhow! On to the photos! :D I hope you enjoy the fruit from the session :) Art direction was done by myself...oh and it ended up POURING that day so the original idea to shoot outdoors was CANNED and we had to shoot to shoot indoors in the tiny spaces of 2 rooms :P Raining out on musician's shoots seems to be a trend of late!! We did Jayesslee's EP Album cover shoot the other day and it was BUCKETING down like the end of the world so we had to shoot inside as well..hahaha... anyway, more on that later! We'll share those images from Janice and Sonia's shoot in time to come! :D So stay tuned, for now, please enjoy these photos and go check out Amy's new song!! (and Album which is to be released in a couple of weeks!)
PS: Huge thank you to: Celest Thoi (one of my favourite local designers in Malaysia) for all the lovely dresses she let us pick from her collection to use in this session. The white dress you can see is one of her creations :D Oh and the pink dress and ring worn with that dress is from the ever fabulous Ruche :)
xoxo

A Cosy Homely Engagement: SL and Tommy
A
s some of you may have already heard, there is another photographer that has taken residency under the JSP roof :) If you've been paying really close attention, you'll know his name is David. And if you have been fortunate enough, you'll have already met him at some of our shoots! We think he is uber fun and very cool - everyone that's met him via JSP has totally agreed! :) Anyway, he's been out to play on his own lately, with his camera in hand, documenting love in the true JSP style - which as you know, is just an intertwining of simplicity, romance, sweetness, and keeping things natural. We'll formally introduce you to him soon, but for now, we really wanted to share with you this cute little session he did recently with SL and Tommy. A couple who have been together for the better part of a decade and a little more, who love food, interior decorating, and their cute dog Jolly :D
We hope you enjoy these pretty little pics by David!! We're super proud of what he's been getting up to of late!! And are excited to share more with you soon!
Congratulations SL and Tommy!!
xoxo

SL and Tommy then went outdoors to enjoy a very RARE sunny afternoon in Sydney :)

A Warm Winter Engagement: Katherine & Justin
T
his blog has been so LONG overdue for a post update, I know. My fingers and keyboard have frozen in the hiatus that seems to have creeped over this little corner of the web. I'm SO sorry. Please know that I've been dying to blog and update for like.. forever! But responsibility in the form of shoots, editing and design deadlines have been looming over my head like death whispering sinisterly in my ear, every day, for what seems to be the last few months, and that has stopped me from doing what I love here on this site. You see I've been scared.... And this is why...this post update does NOT mean I have become any more free. But people seem to think so! I'm not sure why, but people's minds seem to flick a switch as soon as I put up a post, and this automatic thought flashes in their heads "OMG!! Jenny is back!! She must have more free time, she must be more available!". People, I am not. The last few months have been constituted by more flights than I care to talk about, more tears at the airport met with unwanted goodbyes, so little time with my own husband it pains my heart to even think of it, endless late nights, the most HORRIBLE luck with weather I've ever experienced in the 5 years I've been doing this full time, millions of reschedules over and over and over again, and more tears....I've tried coping with it all and attempted to keep a brave/happy face through everything but It's been hard, people. Even WITH my amazing team to support me, we have been tired and are very very overwhelmed. So please be kind and play nice. We have NOT been slacking.
This post is for all the faithful ones. The patient ones. The ones that have sent me love, kindness, and nothing but support the last few months as I have struggled to make my way through the mountain of work that seems to only have grown in this blog's absence. This post is to say thank you for waiting and we hope you love the images, and that they keep your screens warm for a little while longer til our next post :) I have nothing but love for you guys. Please know that your cheering us on has meant the world of difference to us in this difficult time.
Meet Katherine and Justin. Two sweet souls that met with the crispiest, freshest winter light I've ever seen. I had the most relaxing time documenting their love on camera one frosty afternoon :)
xoxo

Of turning another year older
I
know my birthday was 2 weeks back. May 10th to be exact. Yes, I'm a Taurean. And yes, this post is late... Late, intentionally and not intentionally at the same time. It's been hectically busy (still is *sadface*) and I really just wanted a proper moment to sit down and put my thoughts together because I wanted to say this well. Once. I'll admit it, I kind of make a big deal out of birthdays :P Not the - I want a huge party, big bash, and lets go crazy kind of a big deal... but the kind where there is pampering, hugs, and special little treats sprinkled all throughout.
This year, my hubby made this one special. Okay, he makes all my birthdays special, but this one had that spoonful of extra goodness added to it. You have to understand that we aren't the extremely 'mushy' kind of couple (I know, ironic, given that I am a wedding photographer :P But I've learned to love it that way), we don't sweet talk each other with superflous words, or make public declarations of affection, instead we love in the more silent of ways, in the simple things... Brewing of tea to sleep better at night. Making breakfast, even if its just cereal and milk. A reminder to lock one's car while driving. Allowing each other the freedom to do somethings on our own. And just time together, even if we aren't doing a whole lot.
I'm writing this post, so I can remember. Not because I'm romantically mushy, but because I am sentimental and forgetful (the latter I am not proud of). I want to look back and recall in the middle of a very very busy time for him when he could have chosen to do alot of other things that were very important, he chose me and brought home flowers in my favourite colour, a pretty blue box, and planned a beautiful evening where we ate, drank and chatted about little nothings that made me smile. To alot looking, this may seem materialistic, but deep down I know what it means when I look behind the surface. And that's what matters.
Thank you to my most awesome hubby for making this birthday perfect. I know we drive each other absolutely crazy so often, because we couldn't be two more different people put together (yet somehow, in God's grace, he makes us work), and I know there are times we don't like each other very much because we aren't afraid to tell each other where we stand with each other....but through it all, I always always love you.

Colton Dixon: Love the Way You Lie

Probably the best cover of THIS song I've heard out there. And trust me, I've heard alot of them.
Thank you to Colton Dixon (Contestant on the 2012 American Idol Season) for this beautiful version.
