ello and welcome to what I love to term as my secret treasure trove. For those that don't know me, music has been one of my lesser known passions. It began when I started playing the piano at the age of 5 or 6, which then grew when got my first CD from my mum (which was Mariah Carey's Music Box - a compilation I still love to this day). It then manifolded to another level when I would obsessively listen to the radio in all my spare in between moments during my teens and scribbling pieces of my own poetry and lyrics. However it wasn't until I hit my 20s and officially discovered I loved singing and began learning under some really talented vocal instructors that this passion grew into a deep maturity. In fact, I think if I didn't get so distracted during my late high school and university years chasing after golden grades, I may have become a singer song writer, penning down music on paper, guitar in hand, and an honest voice to portray those stories into lyrical life. Maybe. Who knows? :) 
 
Nowadays, I am happy behind the camera, capturing other people's journeys in a frame and telling their stories in a photo, and am thoroughly content feeding this constant fascination of mine by discovering those lesser known artists who are still as good if not better than anything we hear in mainstream these days (there is just something delightful in enjoying something you know no one else knowns about!), excessively shopping on iTunes, and watching those that do it well.... Who do it very very well :) 
 
So this little corner of my blog is dedicated to those little snippets of discoveries I stumble upon now and then that just saturate my ears, give me goosebumps, make me happy, and move me all at the same time. I hope they brighten up your day as much as they have mine. And I hope there is something here for everyone no matter how you are feeling at this stage in your life.... The in-love, the broken hearted, the happy, the sad, the angry, the blessed, the lost, the married, the engaged, those still looking, and for all the rest who simply just share this passion of mine with me.

t's a sunday afternoon, and I'm floating around with my usual sunday afternoon drowsiness... you know, the state one is in when they are awake, but just want to sit there and only have the physical or mental capacity to basically stare at the wall in front of them. I have to sing at church later this evening, and I'm a little nervous.... new singer to support, a few unfamiliar songs, different band members, and the lingering insecurity I have with timing are all making me a little twitchy on this sabbath day. So I let out a sigh, and just pray that God will help get me through. I love singing, but paired with an ever changing group of people to work with every time I am called up to the singers' chair at church, is a little scary and makes for really nailing songs technically and with feeling, terribly hard.  
 
Anyway, that said, it isn't the reason I am writing today. I just simply wanted to share this pretty track by one of my favourite Australian singer songwriters. It's been 4 years since her last album (which I have to admit, even for a forgiving fan like myself, was unspectacular), so the wait for new material has felt parched. Which is why, when I discovered she had teamed up with legendary crooner, Michael Bolton, I was delighted to find the result of their labor was this beautiful song. Enjoy! think I have a secret hidden soft spot for singers who croon out bluesy, gutsy, and soulful numbers. Now, Joss Stone is not a new name on the block. In fact, she has been around for years and even hit a bright spot in the industry a little while back before disappearing behind the scene now that glitzy performers like Gaga and Katy Perry are ruling the playground. That said, there is a hungry quiet mob that still appreciates music with depth, soul, and heart - look at Adele's success today. She goes against everything the industry is trying to create, and she is blazing fires ahead of all of them, and leaving permanent success marks behind her. So when I find musicians like that, I skip around with joy. Joss Stone is one such artist. I am sad she isn't more well known, but God bless her for the stuff she churns out - they packed full of blues and soul goodness, and she belts them out as good as Aretha Franklin.

'm not really sure why this song was never made 'famous' like her other numbers, but "Fearless" by Taylor Swift does nothing but give me the good vibes. And on a friday that has turned out to be anything but productive and efficient, this has been added to my playlist titled "Awesome" and is playing on a loop to kick start me into the right direction today, and get some bad-ass work done! Dear lord, I love this song to bitss... it does nothing but send me to feelgood happy places :D Oh and on a completely random note - I'm DYING to watch Taylor Swift perform live. Her concert dates and locations have never dropped in the right places, and you couple that with my insane schedule, it's just never happened :(
